Healthy as a fish

Scientific research has long demonstrated the importance of fish consumption for the functioning of our body. They occupy a very important place in the Food Pyramid. They should therefore occupy a strong position in our diet and play a prominent role. Eating fish provides our body with essential nutrients. There is a reason why fish and seafood are referred to as superfoods. In addition, some of the beneficial ingredients are only found in fish.

In particular, Omega-3 fatty acids found in the unique composition of fish, are highly valuable. By eating them we consume ALA, EPA and DHA acids. In comparison, these acids are not found in significant amounts in vegetable or animal oils. The benefits to the body of consuming Omega-3 fatty acids cannot be overstated. They have a very good effect on the cardiovascular system, brain function and eyesight. They reduce the risk of cancer and support carbohydrate metabolism in the body. These acids also boost our immunity and improve concentration. In short, it is a really positive fat that we should not avoid. We need to supply it to our body with food.

Fish is also a very good source of protein. They contain between 10 and 25%. Very importantly, it is a complete and easily digestible protein without the high levels of saturated fats that many other meats have. Fish protein contains all the essential amino acids in the right proportions for the human body. One such valuable amino acid is lysine, which is essential for building muscle proteins. There is a lot of it in fish protein, much more than in other products. This is not without significance for people with a healthy lifestyle who practice sport intensively. Eating fish helps to effectively replenish protein after a good workout.

Fish preserves are not only a very good source of unsaturated fatty acids and protein, but also vitamins and valuable macro and microelements such as magnesium, copper, zinc, calcium, iron, manganese, iodine and selenium. Fish contains a lot of vitamin D3, A and E. B vitamins, which are found in all fish, are also necessary for the proper regulation of our metabolism. For example, just a 100 gram serving provides us with the daily required dose of vitamin B12.
Nowadays we all face vitamin D deficiency and fish is a significant source of it.

To conclude – fish are irreplaceable in our diet. Nutritionists recommend that we should eat about 300 g of them per week. The form in which we eat them is also important in terms of the calorie content of the food and, of course, its taste.
And here a very good choice are fish preserves, which are offered in very convenient and handy packaging such as cans, jars or alupacks.

Canned fish – a good choice

For those who appreciate the benefits of eating fish, a convenient and safe solution is tinned fish, which not only provides the above nutritional values, but also tastes delicious.

Thanks to such products, we can enjoy the taste of various species of fish in an ideal combination of flavours.

The undoubted advantage of canned food is that it can be stored for a long time without refrigeration. This extended shelf life unnecessarily raises concerns among some consumers. Canned food is mistakenly equated with preservatives. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Their long shelf life is a result of appropriate heat treatment, robust packaging, lack of air and suitable ingredients such as salt and vegetable oils. The process of producing canned food can be compared with that of preserving jars, which is very popular in Poland.
As a result, this type of product does not require the use of preservatives, which is undoubtedly an advantage. The process of sterilising canned fish using high temperature, apart from inactivating microorganisms, has the task of cooking the fish, making it easily digestible and tasty.

Fish Processing Łosoś Ltd. offers a wide selection of tinned fish, which thanks to our experience gained over decades, are characterised by the highest quality and unique taste. You can find the best in fish by eating it as a snack or using it as an ingredient in elaborate dishes.
